Term 1 Week 4 - Reflections

Hi guys! This is what I learnt this week:
This week, I have learned that I'm not completely hopeless at sewing! Who would have thought? I also learnt about how awesome or trip to Wellington is going to be. We got the itinerary, and it sounds amazing! We're going to Wellington zoo, and we're going to the Capital E Digital place, and we're going snorkeling... I can't wait!
Anyway, see you all soon, goodbye for now!

Term 1 Week 3 - Reflections

Hi guys! This is just another learning reflection from me.

This week, I reminded myself about expanding and simplifying numbers. Really easy really, but I forgot! So how you do it is this:
You put in the brackets the first number, and multiply it by the place value, then the brackets stop, and you put an addition sign, then the next in brackets, and so on, eg:
13578=
(1×1000) + (3×1000) + (5×100) + (7×10) + (8×1);
Expanding with powers is the same, but with powers, eg:
20870=
(2×100^4) + (8×10^2) + (7×10^1)

Anyway, goodbye, see you soon!

Term 1 Week 2 - Reflections

Hi guys! Apparently, this year, we have to do reflections of what we learned during the week, even though we didn't have to do them last year, which is really confusing, but oh well.

This week, I learned what face value is. It's really simple, but I'd never actually learnt it, and what it is is this:
So you know place value is what column the number is in, hundreds, thousands etc, and total value is how much each number is worth, 300, 4000 etc. Face value is basically just the number, eg:
The face value of the 7 in 1790 is just 7.
Anyway, bye!

Tech Arts Cycle 1 - Fabric

Hi guys! Did you miss me? No? Oh well, I don't really care. Anyway, as you know, last year I told you about my Tech Arts. Well, I'm going to do it again this year, but this time I'm going to try to keep it up all through the year. Anyway, enjoy!

Week 1

This week we were filling out parts of our booklets, and looking at different kinds of fabric like polyester etc. We were also designing our polar fleeces which we are going to make soon. My design is amazing! It's to have cat ears, a bowtie, and the sleeves are going to have fingers! Because, quoting my favorite TV series: Bowties are cool!

Week 2

This week we were learning about how polar fleece is made, Anand filling out more of our booklets. We also cut out the shapes for our polar fleeces, and we sewed the shoulder seams using the sewing machines.

Week 3

This week, I sewed up my hood, attached my hood and attached one of my sleeves. It actually doesn't look horrible, which is really surprising.

Anyway, that's all for now. Bye!

Red Is…

I'm sorry I abandoned you guys! I want to share with you a poem I wrote.

Red is strawberries,
Juicy and sweet
In the scorching
Summer sun
Red is autumn leaves,
Dancing,
Twirling,
Flying through the air
Red is fire,
Licking at wood,
Destroying everything in it’s path
Red is anger,
Blind rage
Red is a rose,
Perfectly beautiful
Red is rubies,
Sparkling in the sunlight
Red is being brave,
Courageous
Red is hot,
Sunlight burning your skin
Red is Spicy
Red is arrogance,
Big headedness
Red is love,
Creeping into even the coldest of hearts
Red is blood,
Pulsh our veins,
Bringing life

Tech Art-Wood

Week 1
This week we only had one lesson, because Mr Munk was away doing something something. The second lesson, we had a safety talk, which to be honest, was boring. Don't judge me though, most of you would probably say the same. The video that we watched was really weird and wrong, and we kept bursting out laughing.

Week 2

This week we were creating spinning tops. I made a bow one, and even though people said it wouldn't work, it did.

Week 3

This week  we we making cool pictures with LED lights in them. I had this really cool idea of doing a face, and it was really cool, but it didn't really work out, so I just had a really badly drawn cake.

Week 4 - 6

We have been making Steady-Hand games, and I made a double one, which is awesome. It didn't really work though, so I kind of abandoned it. *Sheepish Look*

Week 6-7
We made boxes with hinges, and I have no idea what I'm going to put in mine! I'll probably figure something out soon, though.

My Birthday!

Yay, it's my birthday! To celebrate, I am going to start a routine where every week I post whatever I have written of my book for 'Passion Hour' also known as 'Genius Hour'. I will post you the next chapter soon.

Before I Died

Chapter 1

I lay on my couch, staring out the window as the doctor does the daily routine, sticking needles into my arm and giving me countless pills which I will have to swallow later. I remember when I went out and met people, I had a good time, instead of just watching them through the window. I wish things were still so simple.
"Violet? Violet!" I heard someone calling my name."Huh, what?" I asked, snapping out of my daydream.
"Don't forget to take those pills, alright! I'll be back tomorrow!" The doctor said, smiling at me. I wasn't an idiot. I'd seen that smile many times before, from many other people. It was a sympathy smile. They smiled because they felt sorry for you. They didn't care at all. I stared at him in silence, not lowering my gaze.
"Uh, well, bye then!" he said, looking away. I turned my back to him and stared out the window again. I didn't need a doctor. I needed someone who could help, someone who actually cared. I needed a friend. I started to cry, tears rolling down my cheeks. Suddenly, I heard a noise in my garden. I stopped crying. I recognised that sound, I was sure of it! I jumped up and ran into the garden.
"Oh my god!" I gasped running up to this huge blue police box, which had suddenly appeared at my house. I stroked the blue wooden door.
"He came back," I whispered, smiling for the first time in nearly six months, before I became the girl with cancer and was just me, Violet Storm. I closed my eyes, let out a deep sigh, and slowly opened the doors, of which in my mind, were the gates to heaven.
